 The 2024 Genesis GV60 Performance is an all-electric, five-passenger subcompact sport-utility vehicle (SUV) that boasts quiet comfort, smooth operations, and supercar performance.

The brand's all-wheel drive (AWD) GV60, which debuted in 2022, is the pinnacle of its electric vehicle (EV) lineup. It blends high-end amenities, such as an extensive array of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), with quick charging times and exceptional on-road capabilities.

The GV60's rapid-charging features assist reduce range anxiety by enabling continued travel after an eighteen-minute electrical fill-up that may replenish up to eighty percent of the battery.

Performance is implied by the powertrain.

A total of 320kW (429 horsepower) and 516 pounds-feet of torque are produced by two 160kW electric motors, one of which powers the front wheels and the other the back. The power to power the GV60 Performance comes from a 77.4 kWh battery, and boy does it ever!

In tests conducted by Car and Driver, the 2024 model reached 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds when the steering wheel's "Boost" mode button was activated. When you press the green button, the twin-motor horsepower rating rises to 483.

The "always there" torque (electric motors create maximum torque at zero RPM) and AWD traction provide the GV60 Performance exceptional instantaneous power even when the magical green button isn't touched. As a result, the GV60 is swift as well.

All that power comes at a cost: the more potent Performance model can only travel around 235 miles on a full battery charge, but the 225hp rear-wheel-drive GV60 Standard model can manage over 300 miles.

The Level 2 Autel MaxiCharger AC Wallbox Home unit in my garage provided a full overnight charge for the GV60, which according to its on-board computer over the week showed 246 miles.
During this evaluation time, I was not able to test public billing; nevertheless, after evaluating the 2023 version.

Bottom line: a battery may be charged from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes when using the quickest fast chargers, or Level 3, which are appearing all over the nation (350kW). And it functions, as I discovered at two different fast chargers on two separate occasions.

Based on my experiences with prior Hyundai-family battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) sharing the company's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) design, I have no reason to think the 2024 model will operate any differently than the previous one. I've driven the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Kia EV6, and they all function with fast charging exactly as well as the GV60 from the previous year.

The performance package is completed by the supporting elements.

A real performance vehicle needs to be faster than that. To carry this classification, it must be able to stop, turn, and navigate a variety of difficult routes. The on-paper specs and the actual actions of the GV60 Performance are what give it its moniker.
The little SUV moves quickly in the direction it is headed, and its AWD makes it easy to maneuver over uneven terrain. Because the driving input from the GV60 Performance is so comforting, the speeds grow with every movement. And it does it in a calm, comfortable manner.
The suspension system consists of independent five-link multi-link configuration in the back and MacPherson-type struts up front.

The Preview Electronic Control Suspension (Preview ECS) of the Performance model anticipates potential hazards to the vehicle, such as speed bumps, by using data from the GV60's front camera and (standard) navigation system. In accordance with the road's surface, it also regulates the suspension's damping force.

Furthermore, the electronic-Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) makes it possible for the wheels to get the ideal amount of torque when reversing at a high speed, which enhances acceleration and cornering ability. This gives drivers more solid control in wet or snowy conditions and on slick roadways.

Like other electrified cars, the GV60 has two types of braking systems: a more traditional friction-braking system and regenerative braking, which uses the engine as a generator to slow down the car and recharge the battery.

The driver may choose from up to four "regen" settings via steering-column paddle shifters, which includes the option to drive on one pedal (or "i-Pedal," as Genesis refers to it). By removing pressure on the accelerator pedal, the automobile can slow down or even stop completely in this position; the brake pedal is not engaged.

Brake pedal application is required for conventional friction braking. Anti-lock (ABS), electronic brake boost, and 14.2-inch vented front and rear rotors are all part of the GV60's system.

Since the 2024 Genesis GV60 Performance is the top of the line, its interior is equipped with top-tier luxuries, technology, and conveniences.
The heated seats (fronts also ventilated and power adjustable) are coated in Nappa leather, and there is dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control in addition to a heated steering wheel with power adjustment.
The 12.3-inch customisable instrument cluster and the 12.3-inch touchscreen managing the infotainment system with navigation are part of the panoramic display that spans the majority of the dash. It is also supported by a console-mounted rotary control, dash buttons, and steering-wheel switches.

 

High-end attributes and cost

The RWD Standard model in the GV60 range starts at $52,000, while the AWD Advanced variant costs $60,550. With all the amenities listed and many more not included, the Performance model I tested was priced at $69,550; when the $1,350 freight charge was added, the total cost came to $70,900.

While the price is substantial, the Genesis GV60 Performance is also noteworthy. It can more than compete with any other premium EV subcompact on the American market thanks to all of the features and capabilities listed above.
